Bio

Joel Gethin Lewis is an interaction designer and artist. He is currently lives and works in London at the company he co-founded in 2009, Hellicar&Lewis.

From 2005 to 2008 he was the interaction designer at United Visual Artists, working with clients such as U2, Massive Attack, Nokia and the British Council.

Educated in London, he split his time between the Royal College of Art and working at Dazed&Confused magazine, where amongst other things he launched AnotherMag.com and assisted the photographer Rankin.

In other work he has collaborated with such varied clients as Benetton, Rem Koolhaus, IBM, and Casio. He is one of the founders of the interaction design meet-up, This Happened.

Joel Gethin Lewis talks about his background, inspirations and future - from Francis Bacon to Ray Bradbury.

Starting with his early years in Wales, IBM and University, Joel will pick out key moments in his life that have changed his path - as well as what he has learnt along the way.

In particular, he will talk about his time on the road with Massive Attack, his experiences working on the Regent Street Christmas Lights and his more recent developments in the field of Open Source - along with the formation of his two most rescent ventures - YesYesNo and Hellicar&Lewis.
