Design and the Pragmatic Future
The future isn't what it used to be. The future used to be an imaginary story, a speculative possibility. That was the past--the one in which science fiction was unattainable. Design's job was to write the story so the world might see the future.
No longer. The future is a present possible, not a speculation. Design's job is to write the story so the world can participate
in the pragmatic future. In order to inherit the pragmatic future, you have to walk through the gate of interaction design. In this talk, see the next-generation design practice--learning to bring the pragmatic future to life.
