The Elevator Pitch

Every year we get a lot of speaker proposals. We want to say yes to everyone but of course simply don't have the room. The Elevator Pitch is a great way of getting on stage at Reasons to, and also a great way of getting noticed by other events. 20 'newbies' / 'oldies' / whatever you want to call them, get 3 minutes to do a 'mini session', show their best work, a new idea, live coding, live drawing, whatever. The Elevator Pitch is a mix of designers, developers and creatives throwing down their stuff in 3 minutes!

It is very fast paced, very exciting, and one of the best loved sessions at the event. We have a very experienced AV crew preparing for each speaker, meaning there are no gaps, no waiting, just your opportunity to look good for 3 minutes, and then it is the next speakers turn. After the event, the audience is asked to vote for their 3 favourite Elevator Pitchers, who then get asked back to do full sessions. Who has done Elevator Pitches in the past? - Here are a few names: Jon Howard, Luke Whittaker, Frank Reitberger, Iain Lobb, Tom Vian, Tom Platten-Higgins, Wouter Verweirder, Jop Wielens, and of course, the most recent winners - Nadieh Bremer, Will Appiah and Phil Corbett!

What do you get out of it? - A full 3 day pass, an opportunity to get noticed, great exposure, pretty cool eh?
What do we get? - A chance for us to see new talent.

Do you think you've got what it takes to do a 3 minute session?

Have you got a great session that the world needs to see? Get involved. What we want to know:

How do we choose?

Our mission is to deliver the best conference with the best speakers.

Gender, race, or ethnicity are not considerations in our decision making process, just as height or shoe size would not affect our choice of speaker. If you have a great session proposal, and are a good public speaker, then we will consider your session proposal. If your proposed session fits in with the balance of the event, then we want you!

We do not accept all proposals, but, we consider them all. If you feel there is an imbalance in our line-up, then we encourage you to send in a proposal, or encourage others to send in a proposal. Looking forward to getting your session proposal.
